The 376th Bombardment Group (H) is cited for outstanding performance of duty against the enemy. From the initial receipt of orders concerning this mission, all personnel of this organization proceeded with the preparation and training therefore with most untiring zeal and devotion to duty. Ground personnel prepared the aircraft of the organization for such a rigorous mission with the utmost care. Flying personnel trained unceasingly for this experimental and hazardous use of their type of aircraft, and all committed to memory the most minute details as to their objectives, the route to be used, expected enemy defenses, and landmarks of all sorts. On the date selected for the mission, the flying personnel chosen to participate in the attack on the Ploesti oil refineries demonstrated the greatest personal bravery, flying skill, and attention to duty, and ingenuity in the performance of the mission despite unforeseen developments and difficulties encountered en route. This organization rendered a valuable contribution to the pursuit of our armed conflict against our enemies in Europe which is in keeping with the finest traditions of our Air Forces.
